DesireeRose grew up in Camden, NY; a small town in upstate New York. Music started becoming a passion when she was a little kid, at the age of 4. This is when she found her love for dance where she studied tap, jazz, hip hop, and ballet. And then again when she picked up the violin in the 5th grade and has been playing it ever since. She was classically trained and because of her grandparents love for fiddling she learned how to fiddle. In the 7th grade she joined choir and still sings and song writes today. It was when she started the 9th grade in high school she just decided she really wanted to write and compose music. After DesireeRose graduated from Camden Central High School in 2001 she studied under the Music Industry Program at SUNY Oneonta for a year and a half. Then in her second semester in 2003 she started studying Business and Marketing. In her freshman year DesireeRose began working with a local SKA band through the Music Industry Club, where she learned the ropes as an A&R rep. By her junior year she picked up her passion for dance again, where she was a choreographer for a semester and dancer for a year and a half for the colleges' dance company, TERPS.
Through time and experience she says,
"If you are not a go-getter then you will always be on someone elses' terms."And because of that she moved to Orlando, FL a month after graduating from college in 2005 with the hopes to get her foot in the door with the music industry.. She chose to move there to get closer to the music industry. But this time it was for more on the business side of things, like artist management and PR. And that she did, making friends and networking with many different local bands in the Orlando area. On the weekends she would check out place like Back Booth, the AKA Lounge, The Social, Hard Rock Live - they are some very popular venues where many traveling and locals bands perform. DesireeRose even worked at Hard Rock Live during her time spent in Florida. She recently moved back to Los Angeles in March 2010... OK so maybe it isn't recent; it's almost a year!
Needless to say, music remains a passion for her today. Back in October of 2010 she decided to create "You Know..." to acknowledge the talent that is out there but people may not be completely aware of. She covers all genres, from rock to house to pop to folk/blues to hip hop/R&B and more. To-date it is getting about 200 a day and increasing on a weekly basis.
"There's so much hype online where everyone and anyone can post themselves singing a song on YouTube, whether it's good or bad, and they can be recognized. You hear about the people that are 'funny' or 'so bad that you have to tell people about it' and their videos become viral. By doing that the industry is missing out on the true talent and diverging the attention from the people who should be getting it. So I keep my eyes and ears open; and when I hear about someone I think people should know about, I go to their show and write about it. I'm not here to bash anyones' hard work. I'm here to promote artists' situations and give them the publicity they should be getting. "
